Suniel Shetty | Upen Patel | Esha Deol | Sameera Reddy | Tusshar Kapoor | Paresh Rawal | Tanishaa | New Release | One Two Three

The movie has been produced by Kumar Mangat and Sunil Lulla, with collaboration of two popular film banners - Big Screen Entertainment and Eros Entertainment. Ashwani Dheer the debutant director's One Two Three is a slapstick comedy with a decent star cast. One Two Three is a story of mistaken identity of three men with the same name and the hunt for diamonds worth 10 crores.

Diamonds worth ten crores are stolen from the dangerous Don, Papa (Mukesh Tiwari). The diamonds accidentally fall in the hands of young love birds - Chandu (Upen Patel) and Chandni (Tanisha), who quickly hide them in a car. The don and his idiotic henchmen Alberts (Vrijesh Hirjee) and Pintos (Manoj Pahva) are desperately hunting for the diamonds while hot headed police officer Mayavati Chautala (Neetu Chandra) is on the prowl looking for offenders of any kind.

Enter the first Laxmi Narayan (Tusshar Kapoor). He's from a khandani mafia family and his mother prays that with a few murders under his belt, he will be settled for life. After botching up badly in his early attempts, he's got a final chance to redeem himself as a Bhai. He comes to Hotel Blue Diamond, Pondicherry because he's taken supari to bump off Papa (Mukesh Tiwari).

Enter the second Laxmi Narayan (Suniel Shetty). He's an MBA from Darjeeling and lives his professional life by following two simple rules - 1) The boss is always right. 2) If the boss is wrong, follow rule number 1. He is sent to the same hotel in Pondicherry to collect a new car for his boss from Laila (Sameera Reddy).
The third Laxmi Narayan (Paresh Rawal) is a hawker who has made so much money selling underwear on the footpath, that he has set up a lingerie factory for his son. His son sends him to Hotel Blue Diamond, Pondicherry to collect lingerie samples from upcoming designer Jiya (Esha Deol).

The 3 Laxmi Narayans happen to be in the same place at the same time.
Co-incidentally all these three approach at the hotel reception desk expecting important messages for them.
Incidentally the three Laxmi Narayans get letters and photographs meant for the other.

First Laxmi Narayan gets lingerie designer Jiya's photo and goes to kill her, only to end up as her hero.
Second Laxmi Narayan gets Papa's photo and goes to collect the car from him, only to be mistaken for a killer and gets beaten black and blue.Third Laxmi Narayan gets Laila's photo and asks her to show him her designer under garments, only to be branded as an old pervert.

Meanwhile Chandu and Chandni are determined to stop anybody from buying the car where they have hidden the diamonds.

But Laila has to sell the car to save her showroom. And Jiya has to sell her designs to save herself from lecherous Mende's clutches.

Sanjay Mishra stands out with a brilliant co

mical performance, Suniel Shetty too ends up with a good performance. Paresh Rawal is as usual good. Tusshar Kapoor is yet to work on his dialogue delivery and body language. Esha Deol hams. Tanisha is irritating and so is Upen Patel. Sameera Reddy is okay for her glamour. The rest of the supporting cast performs well.

One, Two Three is a case of not one mistaken identity, but three! A crazy bunch of people, doing the wrong things for the right reason. Supposed to be laugh riot from the beginning to the end, the movie tickles only at some instances as a completely crazy bunch of people is all-set to do wrong things for right reasons.

Saif Ali Khan | Bipasha Basu | Anil Kapoor | Sameera Reddy | Akshay Khanna | Katrina Kaif | New Release | Race

It begins with horse races, betting, setting, unfaithfulness and eliminating the jockey who's been bribed… Race is set in Durban, South Africa where the top horse owners are archrivals Saif Ali Khan and Dalip Tahil, the latter who begins to use unethical means in the horse racing circuit. Saif pays him back in the same manner. Now its quits and this matter ends here.
Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna) are step-brothers having a huge stud farm in Durban, South Africa. They breed horses and are also the biggest bookies in the horse racing circuit. Ranvir, the elder one, a stern, stubbly millionaire is a daredevil who loves living on the edge. He dotes on his younger brother Rajiv who is an alcoholic and careless. However Rajiv is bitter because the entire estate is in his elder brother Ranvir's name. So he hatches a plan to kill him and claim the insurance money apart from the other businesses. He brings in Bipasha Basu for this heinous crime. However, it turns out that Bipasha was brought in by Ranvir much earlier.
Sophia (Katrina Kaif) is Ranvir's personal secretary. Through a background voice of Anil Kapoor we learn that this sexy employee adores her boss and loves him. Sonia (Bipasha Basu) is an upcoming Indian ramp model in Durban is Ranvir's girl friend, but through a twist of fate she gets married to younger brother Rajiv. When Sonia discovers that Rajiv is a chronic alcoholic, her world is shattered. Ranvir is disturbed as he has sacrificed his love for his younger
brother since Rajiv had promised him that he would leave alcohol once he gets married to Sonia.

After marriage, Rajiv breaks his promise, complications arise. In a planned move, Ranvir and Sonia come very close to each other. Rajiv quips - Shaadi chote bhai ke saath aur suhaag raat bade bhaiya ke saath'. This race of one-upmanship between the brothers continues till the end of the film, with there remaining just one winner.

Midway an accident occurs, purportedly to be a murder. A cop of Indian origin in South Africa Inspector Robert D'Costa (Anil Kapoor) who is assisted by his hot secretary - Mini (Sameera Reddy) gets working in this case.
Nothing is as it seems and nobody is exactly as they seem. Everybody has a motive and is operating from their world of greed. What comes now is a convoy of twists, with inside each character nurturing money-lust, ready to bend morality and there are lies. Though we have stunts here and there, what is evident all throughout is what we see is not what it is.

Akshaye Khanna just manages well using his smirk and shrugs. Though a bit overweight, he manages it aptly. Bipasha Basu carries off well enough as the Indian model and looks ravishing in the title number. Katrina Kaif mostly dressed in raunchy secretary gear, sizzles in the Zara zara song. Sameera Reddy has no scope to display neither her talent nor her hot image. We feel let down by the macho man Anil Kapoor, who enacts his part depicting the Karamchand detective style - how disappointing Its Saif Ali Khan who emerges the real stars in this 'Race'.

The film has Some good songs like "Pehli nazaar" by Atif Aslam, "Zara Zara touch me touch me" and the title track "Race". There's a twist every now and then and it's impossible to guess what the culmination would be. Race has superb style (and substance), excellent dialogues, lovely choreography, the background score which has that international feel and a top class camera work. The movie is a superb entertainer all the way. Abbas and Mustan have directed a nice thriller, which is slick and stylish. It's one of the best thriller in recent times.

Rajpal Yadav | Preeti Mehra | Ravi Jhankal | Bomie E. Dotiwala | Manoj Joshi | New Release | Hello...Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain

Purab Kohli | Arjan Bajwa | Mrinalini Sharma | Sameer Kochhar | Ayaz Khan | New Release | Hide N Seek

‘Hide N Seek’ Movie’s director, Shawn Arranha has said that in his directorial debut he has used a ‘claustrophobic technique’ that will leave audience with a feeling of entrapment.
"I have shot the film in a very different style. I've used a claustrophobic technique. Nobody has tried it yet in this magnitude for a film here. It has mostly been used for short films," Arranha said.
"The audience will actually feel edgy as the story will progress. They will find themselves stuck in the film. They will associate a lot with it. I am really hoping it (the technique) works and who knows it might become a trend," he added.
The movie is written and produced by Apoorva Lakhia. It is a suspense thriller filmed completely in Ahmedabad. It is being presented by Moser Baer.
"I've been with this team since the last 10 years and this is Apoorva's story merged with my style of technique... he really liked the treatment," said Arranha.
Releasing on January 8, the 105-minute thriller is about four friends portrayed by Purab Kohli, Arjan Bajwa, Ayaaz Khan and Samir Kochhar. It also has Miss India Amruta Patki as a debutante.
Arranha said, "I can't talk much about the technique or else it would give away the film. The whole feel of the film is such that the audience will feel they are stuck in a cubic box and that they can't get out of it."
It took only 27 days to finish the film.
"We started with one concept and one thought. The script and the technique, everything else were planned. Moreover the casting really worked because they (actors) pushed themselves and that is why we could finish it in only 27 days and within budget," he said.
Arranha began his career as a production assistant on Channel V and then worked as an assistant director with various production houses for five years.
Later he worked as an assistant director and chief first assistant director with movies like ‘Saathiya’, ‘Boom’, ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost’, ‘Lakshya’, ‘The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey’, ‘Ek Ajnabee’, ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’ and ‘Mission Istaanbul’.
"Audiences are getting smarter and they want something new every weekend. I am expecting audiences to accept me because it is something extremely new I am bringing. And I am going to come out with different techniques in every film I do," he added.

|Sunil Shetty | Naseeruddin Shah | Sameera Reddy | Seema Biswas | New Release | Red Alert

Anant Mahadevan, whose movie, Red Alert-The War Within on Naxalism is being premiered at International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2009 here, said that the story read by him in a newspaper inspired him to work on the subject.

"Actually I was inspired by a true story that appeared in Hindustan Times in Mumbai about a farmer who got inadvertently trapped in a group of naxalites," Mahadevan told PTI.

He said that the film starring Suniel Shetty, Naseeruddin Shah, Sameera Reddy, Seema Biswas is a great human story to be told.

"Naxalism only happens to be a backdrop and very relevant backdrop at the moment. It was a story of a person who is affected by the moment," he explained.

Mahadevan, who has seven films as a director under his belt, stated that it was just a coincident that a film on Naxalism was produced when the movement is at its height in the country.

"The movement is suddenly in uprising again. It had died down in between. It's a 40-year old problem and now everyone is running after it," he quipped adding that he is not the sympathiser of the issue but has reported it through the film.

"There are two sides to the coin. If you see how the whole thing started, it definitely began because of the apathy of the government towards the people who were denied a lot of rights but when the uprising started, it started from rich middle class than it got picked up by the leaders," he explained.

Speaking about his choice of Suniel Shetty as a lead actor who played the role of Narsimha, Mahadevan said that it was looks that actually mattered. "He looked like Andhra Pradesh farmer and he is from the South too, so half my battle in casting was over," he explained.

The director felt that being a human story anybody who is moved by the film and moved by issue would surely like to watch the film whether he is in the city or small towns.

He said that the censor board did not clipped a single frame from the movie before giving it `A' certificate.

"It's an honest film. I have not made the film which is catering to typical Hindi film formula. It's a very-very far remote from that. This is very uncompromising film," he added.
